The
Game
Fish n’ Ships is a fast, simple, fun card game for 2-5 players. Each game takes an average of 10-20 minutes to play depending on the amount of people.
You play as a pirate who has found a treasure map but, instead of leading you to gold, it leads to magical fish! Follow the map, collect your fish, gain magical dominion over the seas. You know, the classic tale!
Players are each given a list with a unique combination of cards that they must collect in order to win the game. This is accomplished by dueling, scheming, teaming up, betraying, hoarding, and generally acting in a piratical (piratic? piratish?) manner.
Secret Goal Card
Collect everything on your list to win!
The deck contains a variety of card types, including Cannonball Cards, Goal Cards, Treasure Cards, and what we have termed “Tide-Turner” cards .
Tide-Turner cards are unique single-use cards that do not get shuffled back into the deck once the draw pile is depleted, encouraging you to try to use them quickly and win, or hoard them for a surprise in the late game.

Treasure Card
Collect These!
The game is inspired by such legendary games-night staples as “Bang! The Bullet”, “King of Tokyo”, “Flux” and the classic playing card game of “War”.
Are special abilities are a thing? Golly-gee-whiz-youbetchya they are! Except, instead of being assigned to specific characters, the abilities are available to everyone and can be claimed, assigned, and stolen by anyone who wants them. There’s a bit more to it, of course, but we really liked the way that last sentence flowed.

But be warned all of ye! Since this -again- is a piratically inclined game, cards can be stolen if you lose a battle or are otherwise plundered (usually through pirate magic, yarrrr). So if you have a particularly nice card, best either be usin’ it quick or be prepared to defend it!

Prepare yourself and your friends for a swashbuckling new addition to your games-night line-up!*
*And if they’re NOT ready to buckle at least 3 swashes, then are they really your friends at all? No. No they are not.

Ephraim McCormick
That smug mug right there is me! Hi! I invented Fish n’ Ships and I run Goodfellow Games Co. I’m a fan of the particular kind of fun that comes from games nights and I’ve been loving the cardboard renaissance of recent years.
I prefer simpler games to ones with a lot of moving parts. The games I return to often are the ones that can be set up in a few minutes and explained in about as much time. So those types of games are the foundation that my company will be built on. Not that there won’t be a few giant games coming out later on. :)
By day, I run a humble video production company that also serves to help fund my crazy game ideas. So if you’re curious about the sweet production quality on the kickstarter video, well, that riddle is solved!
If you have a game idea or you want advice on how to get it off the ground, or if you just want to tell me how much fun you had playing one of my games, drop me a line! I’m always eager to start a conversation!
Jeremy Malisse
That guy there is Jeremy. Apart from running a software development company, he also has a passion for programming video games (he got his pretty intense Game Dev Degree from Napier University in Edinburgh).
Since that degree means he is basically a wizard, Jeremy is currently producing a mobile version of Fish N’ Ships which we hope to launch in tandem with the upcoming crowdfunding campaign.
He’s a fan of the big honkin’ tabletop epics (think “Lords of Hella”, “Xia: Legends of the Drift System"), and the level of strategy required to master such games is what drives his passion to create them.
If you have a mobile game idea and want to see if its doable, or you just want to chat about cool geek stuff, drop him a line!
How do you find an artist for your game? The process can be long but incredibly rewarding! I’ll explain…
